Pleated blinds are stylish and practical, providing effective protection from sunlight. They can be opened and closed in different ways โ either from top to bottom or from bottom to top. Pleated blinds can be installed either within the window frame (recessed) or on top of the window frame (surface-mounted). The pleated blind profile is made of aluminum. The product is attached to the window frame with screws.

If your window is different from the one shown in the measuring guide, please send us a photo of your window to info@valguskate.ee, and we will mark how to measure it correctly.
First, measure the depth of the window frame. If the depth is 1.5 cm or more, it is possible to install the pleated blind inside the window frame, in front of the glass.
To do this, measure the width. If the window glass has a seal, measure from the middle of one seal to the middle of the other seal.
Next, measure the height, also from the middle of one seal to the middle of the other seal.
First, measure the depth of the window frame. If the depth is less than 1.5 cm, the pleated blind can be mounted on top of the window frame.
For this, measure the width from line to line on the window frame.
Measure the height in the same way, from line to line on the window frame.
First, it is necessary to know the depth of your window frame.
If the window frame depth is 1.3 cm or more, it is possible to install cassette blinds on your window.
Secondly, you should measure the width from hinge point to hinge point of the frame.
Thirdly, you should measure the height, which is different from the width measurement. Measure from the top hinge point of the frame down to the line on the frame.
Measuring a Roller Blind for Outside Mount (Over the Opening)
To measure a roller blind for an outside mount, we recommend starting by measuring the width of the window opening. Then, add the desired fabric overlap on both sides of the opening. The minimum recommended overlap is 5 cm on each side. For blackout fabrics, we recommend a larger overlap. You also need to add the width of the roller blind mechanisms, which is 4 cm in total.
For example, if the opening is 120 cm wide, and you want a 10 cm overlap on each side + 4 cm for the mechanisms, you calculate:
120 + 10 + 10 + 4 = 144 cm = 1440 mm.
The height of the roller blind can be as tall as you prefer. However, if you plan to mount the blind above the opening, we recommend installing it at least 10 cm higher than the top of the window. This ensures the window can be opened freely without the blind getting in the way.
Measuring a Roller Blind for Inside Mount (Inside the Opening)
To install a roller blind inside the window opening, measure the width and height of the opening from the inside. Subtract 1 cm from the measured width to ensure the blind fits neatly within the opening. You donโt need to subtract anything from the height.
For example, if the opening is 120 cm wide, you calculate:
120 – 1 = 119 cm = 1190 mm.
